Telemedicine Visit Instructions

Telemedicine allows you to meet with your Orthopaedic Sports Specialists provider by secure video from your home or another private location. Telemedicine may be appropriate for many types of visits; however, your provider may determine that an in-person examination, imaging study, or additional testing is needed.

What Is Telemedicine?

Telemedicine uses secure video technology to connect you with your health care provider remotely. During the visit, you can see, hear, and speak with your provider in much the same way as during an in-office appointment.

You may invite a family member, caregiver, or friend to participate in your visit if you wish.

Is Telemedicine Private?

Your telemedicine visit is private and confidential. We use a secure video platform configured for health care visits. Please choose a private location and use a secure internet connection whenever possible.

Is There a Cost?

Telemedicine visits are billed similarly to in-person visits. Coverage and patient responsibility, including copayments, deductibles, and coinsurance, vary by insurance plan. Please contact your insurance company directly if you have questions about your telemedicine benefits.

What You Will Need

You may join your telemedicine visit using:

  • A computer with a webcam, microphone, and speakers

  • A smartphone or tablet

  • A reliable internet connection; Wi-Fi is strongly recommended

Before Your Visit

  1. You will receive a secure telemedicine link from our office before your appointment.

  2. If you are using the Zoom Workplace app, download it in advance from the Zoom Download Center or your device’s app store.

  3. Allow Zoom to access your camera and microphone when prompted.

  4. Ten to fifteen minutes before your appointment, choose a quiet, private, well-lit location and ensure that your device is charged.

  5. A staff member may contact you before the visit to confirm your information and assist with check-in.

How to Join Your Telemedicine Visit

At the time of your appointment, click the secure link sent to you by our office. You may be asked to enter your name and allow access to your camera and microphone. If you are placed in a virtual waiting room, please remain connected until your provider joins the visit.

If you have difficulty connecting, please call our office for assistance.

Important

For your privacy and security, please do not share your telemedicine link with others. If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, contact our office as soon as possible.
