Dr. Dukas is devoted to the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of orthopaedic injuries. He takes pride in the ability to provide exceptional care to patients of all ages. His clinical expertise includes the management of athletes and sports injuries, joint replacement and fracture care. He has advanced training in the latest arthroscopic and minimally invasive techniques of the knee, shoulder, elbow and hip. He has a particular focus on hip arthroscopy and preservation including labral tears and femoroacetabular impingement (FAI), pediatric sports injuries, knee preservation (including cartilage transplantation, meniscus injury and ligament reconstruction of the ACL & PCL) and comprehensive shoulder care and reconstruction such as shoulder replacement and rotator cuff repair.
Dr. Dukas joined Dr. Joyce who was thoroughly impressed with his performance and reputation during his training at the University of Connecticut. His approach to patient care using evidence-based medicine coupled with excellent technical skill was in line with the philosophy Dr. Joyce has long established at Orthopaedic Sports Specialists. He works with patients to tailor treatment plans both nonoperative and operative based on specific needs of the patient. Dr. Joyce has no doubt he will continue the legacy of excellence in patient care instilled at Orthopaedic Sports Specialists. Dr. Dukas has advanced training in Sports Medicine from the renowned University of Utah, the current #1 Orthopaedic Program in the nation for Orthopaedic Research as determined by the National Institutes of Health. University of Utah has a storied Sports Medicine history in caring for Olympic athletes and is one of 3 medical centers in the country designated by the U.S. Olympic Committee as a National Medical Center providing for US Olympic and Paralympic Athletes. In addition to being a part of the team taking care of Team USA, Dr. Dukas was also an assistant team physician for the Utah Jazz, AAF’s Salt Lake City Stallions as well as University of Utah Collegiate teams including Football and University of Utah Red Rocks Gymnastics. Currently, he continues to take care of the best athletes in Connecticut. He is a team doctor for UCONN athletics , the Colorado Rockies Double-A affiliate The Hartford Yard Goats professional baseball team, Hartford Athletic professional soccer team, and Loomis Chaffe Athletics. A proven leader in his field, Dr. Dukas is an author of over 30 peer-reviewed articles, textbook chapters and society poster publications. He is a reviewer for the American Journal of Sports Medicine and has been appointed Clinical Associate in the Dept. of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine and is a clinical instructor for the UCONN Orthopaedic Residency Program.
